Included are two AA batteries (for Wireless model only), a USB 2.4Ghz receiver and instruction booklets (Japanese language). The Elecom M-HT1DRBK Wireless Trackball comes in a modern box (compared to the minimalist carton boxes of the regular EX-G and DEFT models). In this review I’m testing the wireless Elecom M-HT1DRBK which uses the 2.4 Ghz band and USB receiver, but there is a wired version as well, the Elecom M-HT1URBK (find that one on eBay). Each range offers both wired and wireless versions of each model.Ĭlick here to compare all Elecom Trackball models The brand currently offers a few trackballs, which can be divided into three model ranges: DEFT (finger operated), EX-G (thumb-operated) and this new HUGE range (extra large, forefinger operated). The Elecom model range explainedĮlecom is a Japanese electronics company, which produces high quality mice and trackballs and other computer peripherals. The designers at Elecom really thought this new model through and tried to make it comfortable, ergonomic as well as pleasing to the eye. (This leaves Logitech as the only major trackball brand without a large ball. The ball measures 52 mm in diameter, much bigger than the other Elecom models and similar in size to the balls of the Kensington Expert, Slimblade and CST2545-5W. So if you have small hands, you might need to look at the smaller Elecom EX-G or Elecom DEFT models.Ĭompare the size of new large Elecom M-HT1DRBK HUGE model (right) with the much smaller Elecom M-XT3DRBK EX-G model on the left.Ĭompare the size of the large Elecom M-HT1DRBK HUGE model (right) with the much smaller Elecom DEFT M-DT2DRBK (left) and DEFT PRO M-DPT1MRXBK (middle) As Elecom calls it: HUGE! And they’re quite right: this is one of the biggest trackballs available. Not just an update of an existing model, but a completely different design from Elecom. So here is everything I learned about OS X mouse acceleration issue:ġ) There is no easy System Preference to turn in off in 2 seconds.Ģ) There IS a difference in mouse acceleration between WIN and OSx (your not imagining it).ģ) The only real solution is ControllerMatte unit some small app comes out that solves this.Ĥ) SmoothMouse is an app with a lot of hype that is being worked on right now, but it is not out yet. I realized that every solution I found on the internet has been written by somebody willing to sit down and take their time to write about it. Not Advertising for them, but I am compelled to write here as I know somebody will find this info helpful. I've tried SteerMouse, Mousefix 2, killamouseaccel commands, download MS drivers.nothing worked but ControllerMate. My wrist was getting sore from using the mouse under os x. Like many who download this I too was frustrated by the os x mouse acceleration. This will do for some but if you want 100% windows like mouse acceleration you need to get ControllerMate 4.6.
